The Denton Lock was selected to be in the final 12 innovations showcased at the Amey Den event held at the NEC Birmingham in 2015. The competition was tough with some great ideas being showcased, and although we didn't win, the event generated huge interest in the device which has enabled continued development .

What it is and how it works

Its a very simple but effective device to warn of previously identified hazards within a chamber. The plastic face plate comes in five colours to warn of different hazards or uses.

  • Yellow - Dangerous atmosphere
  • Blue - Unpredictable or high flows
  • Orange - Structural defects
  • Red - Sharps
  • Black - Data Tag

The faceplate is inserted into the keyway of the inspection chamber cover and locked into place using a standard 4mm allen key. This can be done as soon as the hazard is identified, giving an immediate warning to anyone who may attempt to enter the chamber in the future.

The faceplate also includes an embedded NFC chip that can transmit important information to any android phone that is passed over the tag. More detailed information on what it does and how it works can be found here
